How to Choose a 1st Birthday Party Dress

A birthday and particularly a 1st birthday is an important milestone in your little one's life. Your daughter may not remember her first birthday but it's a time as a family to celebrate this important milestone and to take photos that you can look back on. Choosing the right 1st Birthday Dress or outfit is a big part of this. The photos you take will capture memories that you will keep until she is older.

Choosing a Birthday Cake Smash Outfit

There are so many sweet options for little girls when it comes to choosing an outift for a birthday party or a cake smash portrait. A number of our gorgeous rompers and birthday dresses have been used for special portraits and cake smash birthday photoshoots. You can find something special that matches the colour theme that you've chosen for the special photoshoot.

Cake smash sessions usually consist of three parts - (1) The photos before the cake comes out, (2) Photos of the cake being smashed and eaten, and (3) photos of your baby in a tub of water cleaning off afterwards. 

Here are a few tips to take into consideration when choosing an outift:

• You might consider choosing two different outfits, one for the portraits before the cake smash and a different specific outfit for the cake smash part of the photo session. 
• If your little one is going to get messy for a cake smash it's recommended for these kind of portraits that baby shows a little more skin as they are going to get covered in icing by the end of the photoshoot. A dress might not be the best choice for the cake smash part of the session. 
• Avoid writing or logos on an outfit. 
• Babies don’t wear shoes or socks.
• If your baby doesn’t mind accessories you could add a bow, floral headpiece or other hair accessories to your baby's outfit.
